UK Parliamentary Outreach in partnership with Black Development Agency and Black Southwest Network are hosting an event, that aims to bring together Young people, Women and BME communities,to explore and learn how the the democratic process works in order to increase your knowledge and engagement with the legislative process.

Information is power; it is important to understand how our democratic system works, and how to get involved in issues that affect you and your life.


Come along and learn how you can get involved and influence the decision making processes that 

that impact your life, from a local level through to a national level.


This is an opportunity for you to gain information and organise as a citizen on issues that affect you and your children's future quality of life in such areas as:

  • Education
  • Childcare
  • Employment.

How to get involved with parliament and get your voice heard!. The workshop will include key areas like: Introduction to parliament, Engaging with parliament, from Bill to Act  and using the parliamentary website.

 

Parliamentary Outreach spreads awareness of the work, processes and relevance of the institution of Parliament, encouraging greater engagement between the public and the House of Commons and House of Lords.

The work of Parliamentary Outreach includes:

  • Delivering training sessions explaining the work of Parliament, such as the 'Parliament: it's about you!' programme.
  • Developing projects with local networks to demonstrate Parliament's historical relevance to their area, such as the 'Breaking Barriers' exhibition.
  • Helping Select Committees arrange regional visits, such as the Culture, Media and Sport Committee's public meeting on the future for local and regional media.
